The 1943-born Michel Julian was once the youngest production manager in Europe.
After master-minding the presentation of numerous tours in the United Kingdom and on the Continent,
with everything from The Bolshoi Ballet to one woman dance shows,
he soon became a European Theatre Co-ordinate.
Later he published the world's then most influential English language theatre journal, "Theatre Quarterly".
He was also instrumental in re-establishing the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in Britain.
He founded the National Youth Theatre of the deaf.
